Summary of the contracting process

The Norfolk County Council is planning to initiate a tender for the establishment of step-up and step-down units aimed at providing hospital discharge care and crisis support, requiring approximately 150 residential care beds. This procurement falls under the health and social work services category and aims to cater to the communities of Norfolk, with delivery addresses across various local regions. Interested parties can engage in initial discussions scheduled between 14 June and 25 June 2021, with a deadline for expressions of interest set for midday on 4 June 2021. Further notices related to this procurement are expected on or after 30 July 2021.

This procurement opportunity could significantly benefit businesses specialising in healthcare and residential services, particularly those able to provide comfortable, secure accommodation for individuals with complex care needs, including dementia patients. Companies that can operationalise short-term accommodations and support services in line with the Council's requirements will be well-positioned to compete. The tender process is particularly relevant for local service providers who can facilitate services close to acute hospitals within the region, ensuring they meet the needs of the community effectively.
