Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government is seeking tenders for the design and construction of two commercial Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIB), each with a minimum length of 7.80m. This procurement falls within the goods category, specifically related to inflatable craft, and is intended for coastal patrol operations around Scotland's coastline and islands. The tender is currently in the active stage and has a closing date for submissions set for 21st June 2021, with award criteria focused on quality and price. The procurement method used is an open procedure, allowing for broad participation from interested suppliers.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for marine engineering and construction companies, particularly those with experience in manufacturing RIBs or similar vessels. Businesses that possess robust quality management systems, appropriate technical expertise, and compliance with safety standards are strongly suited to compete. Given that this tender encourages electronic submissions, companies should ensure they register and prepare their bids well in advance to meet the outlined deadlines effectively.
