Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Midlands and Lancashire CSU, representing the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), is currently engaged in a planning stage for the "Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent GP Out of Hours Services - Service Specification Engagement Exercise". This initiative is focused on obtaining feedback from potential service providers for the forthcoming procurement of GP Out of Hours services, effective from 1st April 2022. The procurement will cover two lots: North Staffordshire and South Staffordshire, and is categorised under health services. Interested organisations must submit their feedback by 27th June 2021 at 17:00 hrs, while further information can be accessed through the Midlands and Lancashire CSU portal.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the healthcare sector, particularly those specialising in urgent care services, to expand their service offerings in the Staffordshire region. Companies that can provide GP support and operate call centres to receive NHS 111 communications or offer clinical advice would be particularly well-suited to engage in this process. Furthermore, the potential for contracts to be awarded for up to seven years, including extensions, may encourage providers who can deliver innovative and efficient solutions in the out-of-hours healthcare market.
