Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group is undertaking a procurement process titled "Community Healthcare Services in Cheshire," which falls under the health services category. This contract, awarded under a limited procurement method due to urgent circumstances, is intended to extend the current provisions by an additional 24 months, starting from 1st October 2021. The procurement process, marked complete as of 28th May 2021, is located within the region of Cheshire, UK. This extension responds to delays caused by the Covid-19 outbreak and ensures the continuation of essential NHS funded services delivered by Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership on behalf of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This tender presents significant opportunities for healthcare service providers that are experienced in delivering community health services. Businesses with expertise in managing patient care and compliance with NHS standards will be particularly well-suited to compete. The urgent nature of this contract allows for established firms that currently possess operational knowledge and capacity within the community healthcare setting to secure a continuation of their services, while also paving the way for future engagements as NHS Cheshire CCG plans a more comprehensive procurement in the long term.

Notice Title

Community Healthcare Services in Cheshire

Notice Description

This is a VEAT notice for the award of an additional contract of 24 months to the incumbent provider. Community Healthcare Services are NHS Funded services for patients across a range of sites within Cheshire including acute hospitals and local venues. These services are currently provided by Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP) on behalf of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT). The services are responsible for patient care including treatment of conditions across a range of specialties within the community. The Covid-19 outbreak has delayed the Commissioners detailed preparation and engagement for a full procurement for Community Healthcare services in Cheshire. This has given rise to an urgent need to secure a safe continued provision of service during these uncertain times. There is insufficient time for NHS Cheshire CCG to comply with undertaking a competitive procurement process under Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Accordingly, the contracting authority considers this is a state of urgency that is duly substantiated and been brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority could not have foreseen and awards an additional contract of 24 months starting 1st October 2021 to the incumbent provider. This does not alter the overall nature of the contract. NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group is acting in its capacity as Lead Commissioner.
