Summary of the contracting process

The UK Research & Innovation is planning a tender for the procurement of a motion control system, specifically motorised actuators and controllers, for a new laser facility, classified under the lasers industry category. The estimated budget for this project ranges from £200,000 to £300,000. This procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a pre-market engagement webinar scheduled for 19th July 2021 at 12:00 PM. Interested suppliers must register by 15th July 2021 to participate in this event, which will include a presentation about the project and an opportunity for queries.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in automation, control systems, and related technological solutions, especially those experienced in working with modular systems that can be expanded. Companies that can provide compliant drivers for software integration with EPICS will be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Moreover, the ongoing evolution of the motion control system may lead to further procurement opportunities across additional project work packages in the future.
