Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves Public Health England seeking providers for Adult Weight Management Services through a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). This opportunity is aimed at local authorities across England and is classified under community health services. The procurement is currently in the Tender stage, with an expected initial grant expenditure deadline of 31st March 2022. The DPS has a contractual period of three years, with an option to extend for an additional two years, and the procurement method follows a restricted procedure as specified under Public Contract Regulations 2015.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those focused on behavioural weight management and community health initiatives. Companies that can provide tier 2 weight management support and are prepared to engage with local authorities would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The overall value of the DPS is estimated to be between £15,000,000 and £30,379,636.84, indicating substantial financial prospects for successful bidders over the contract period.

Notice Title

Public Health England - Weight Management Services

Notice Description

Public Health England wish to establish a Dynamic Purchasing System of Providers capable of providing Adult Weight Management Services for all Local Authorities (LAs) within England. The DPS will seek to appoint a number of Providers to cover adult behavioural weight management (tier 2) services and support the delivery of the Government's commitment to expanding LAs adult weight management services. These services form part of a wider programme of work, at a national and local level, to help local communities lead healthier lives. The initial grant for these services is expected to be spent by the 31st March 2022. The DPS has been set up for an initial 3 year period with the option to extend for a further 2 years. This is to allow other LAs to use the DPS for Adult Weight Management services at a later date, even if they haven't received grant funding for these types of services. The procurement will follow a Public Contract Regulations 2015 restricted procedure.
