Summary of the contracting process

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is currently in the Award stage of a public procurement process for the contract entitled "Contract Variation for Additional Capacity for the Delivery of Maritime Aerial Patrols." This contract falls under the category of rescue services, with a total contract value of approximately £28.48 million and is set to commence on 1st September 2021, continuing until 18th November 2024. The contract delivery is focused on the United Kingdom's territorial waters and exclusive economic zone, and it incorporates the provision of an additional King Air 200 aircraft to support existing aerial surveillance operations.

This opportunity presents significant potential for growth in the aviation and maritime service sectors, particularly for businesses specialising in aerial surveillance, maritime reconnaissance, and rescue services. Companies equipped to meet the operational demands of the MCA, especially those with capabilities in providing aviation support and training crews for aerial reconnaissance, would be well-positioned to compete for this contract or similar future tenders. Engaging effectively with government departments may also lead to further opportunities, especially given the dynamic requirements highlighted in the contract's award notice.

Notice Description

Lot Information

Lot 1

The modification will provide supplementary capacity to the Aerial Surveillance and Verification (ASV) contract in order to continue to carry out a proactive aerial patrolling demand in excess of that which was anticipated when the contract was let. The supplementary capacity will be delivered using an additional King Air 200 to support the two already used in the service. This additional King Air will remain in place until the end of the contract in November 2024. Sensor equipment, crew and mission systems already in place under the ASV contract will be used to equip this third King Air to undertake maritime patrols for both the MCA and other government departments. Wider fleet support also already in place under the ASV contract will be used to provide resilience during surge periods.
