Summary of the contracting process

The Vale Academy Trust is currently seeking a contractor to deliver full daily catering services across its educational facilities, which consist of one secondary school and six primary schools located in Wantage, UK (postcode OX12 9AU). The procurement method is selective, adhering to a restricted procedure as outlined by the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, and this tender is actively accepting submissions until the deadline of 23rd August 2021. The anticipated contract period is three years, with potential extensions allowing for a maximum of five years. A total of £3,490,058 has been allocated for the provision of these services, which includes both morning breaks and comprehensive lunch services for approximately 3,278 pupils, a segment of whom are eligible for free school meals.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in catering services, particularly those with experience in school food provision and a commitment to health and nutrition. Companies that can demonstrate innovative catering solutions, adaptability to dietary needs, and collaboration in service enhancement will be well-positioned to compete. Suppliers that are small to medium enterprises (SMEs) may find success in this competitive bidding process, especially those equipped to manage the complexities of catering within an educational context and capable of contributing creative initiatives that align with the Trust's goals of increasing food uptake and modernising service delivery.
