Summary of the contracting process

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is currently planning a public procurement process titled "ARCHIVES MOVE PROGRAMME - Digitisation of AV and Audio Assets RFI." This initiative falls under the services category, specifically related to motion picture and video services, and is set to take place in the UK. The BBC is preparing to relocate its primary Video and Audio archive collection in 2024, with detailed plans concerning approximately 1 million audio and video items. Interested vendors should note that this is a Request for Information (RFI), and the next communication regarding this tender is scheduled for 23rd July 2021. It is important to understand that the BBC holds the right to refuse to award contracts at any stage of the process.

This opportunity presents a significant avenue for business growth, particularly for companies specialising in digitisation services, audiovisual archiving, and preservation technology. Firms that provide solutions for the digitisation of large collections, alongside those capable of ensuring high-quality preservation standards for video and audio assets, would find this procurement process especially relevant. Businesses should also be prepared to engage with the e-Tendering portal and demonstrate a strong understanding of the technical requirements set forth by the BBC, as well as compliance with their procurement guidelines.
