Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, initiated by Cheshire East Borough Council, seeks to provide residential care services for children and young people through the tender titled "21 100 Residential Children's Care." This tender falls under the industry category of social work services with accommodation and is located within the Borough of Cheshire East. The procurement is currently at the Award stage, with the initial contract set for three years starting 3rd January 2022, potentially extendable for an additional two years. Bids were due by 6th September 2021, in an open procurement process aimed at addressing the urgent needs of the council.

This procurement presents significant growth opportunities for businesses in the social care sector, particularly those specialising in residential care for children and young people. Companies that are capable of managing residential homes, particularly for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (registered for EBD), would be well-suited to compete for this contract. As the council looks to increase the number of commissioned homes in Cheshire East, providers who can demonstrate quality care and effective management will have a strong advantage in this competitive tendering process.
