Summary of the contracting process

Durham University is conducting a procurement process for the acquisition of two Hyperspectral Imaging Systems, aimed for use in their Chemistry Department and Library, with a total budget of approximately £300,000. The procurement is currently in the Award stage, having completed the Tender process, and the awarding of the contract was done on 20 January 2022. The buying organisation highlighted two specific lots: one for the Chemistry Department and another for the Library, with both projects set to be fulfilled in Durham, UK.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in optical instruments and imaging technology, particularly those who can provide advanced hyperspectral imaging systems suitable for academic and research purposes. Companies engaged in the production and supply of scientific instruments, especially those with innovative technology tailored for heritage conservation and chemical analysis, are particularly well-suited to compete in this procurement process. With a competitive environment indicated by multiple bids received, it is crucial for potential suppliers to demonstrate quality, responsiveness, and price viability in their proposals.
