Summary of the contracting process

Medway Council is initiating a tender for "The Provision of Domestic Abuse Dispersed, Safe Housing and Support", which falls under the social services category. The contract aims to provide between 15 to 20 units of dispersed accommodation in the Medway Area for survivors of domestic abuse, in response to the new Domestic Abuse Act. This procurement process is currently in the tender stage, and proposals are expected to consider various property options, including self-contained units and a small portion of shared units. The contract duration is set for 6 months, with a possible extension for up to two additional years. The closing date for submissions has not been specified.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses within the housing and social support sectors, particularly those that can offer flexible accommodation solutions and support services for complex needs. Companies that specialise in property management, social housing, and welfare support, as well as those equipped to handle unique requirements such as housing for male survivors and larger families, will find this procurement particularly relevant. Innovating in flexible living arrangements and partnering with social services could provide a competitive advantage in meeting the council's needs.

Notice Title

The Provision of Domestic Abuse Dispersed, Safe Housing and Support

Notice Description

In response to the introduction of the new Domestic Abuse Act, Medway Council is looking to commission a service to provide a Domestic Abuse, Dispersed, Safe Housing and Support model in the Medway Area. This dispersed, safe model will sit alongside Medway's established refuge provision and will provide both accommodation and support to survivors of domestic abuse, and where applicable their children. Dispersed accommodation provides a local safe option that would cater for people with complex needs, male survivors, survivors with emotional support animals and pets, larger family units, those with male children over 16 years old. This commission calls for 15 to 20 units/beds of local (in the Medway area) dispersed accommodation. We are looking for the units proposed primarily to be flexible (i.e., where required able to be rotated) and self-contained. A variety of property options is preferable and could be a mix of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom properties. This commission can include a small proportion of shared units (HMO) for same sex placements.
