Summary of the contracting process

The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is planning a tender for a Managed Service for Biochemistry, which will encompass an automated chemistry and immunoassay service across four hospital locations: Queen Elizabeth, Birmingham Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull Hospitals. The procurement is currently in the planning stage with a virtual pre-market engagement day scheduled for 21 September 2021. Interested suppliers must confirm their participation by 14 September 2021, following which the Trust will make a final decision on the tender route, currently envisaged as an 'open' procedure. The overall procurement involves goods classified under biomedical equipment.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in biochemistry, laboratory services, and healthcare equipment. Companies that can provide automated chemistry and immunoassay services, pre- and post-analytics, and therapeutic drug monitoring solutions will be particularly well-placed to compete. Engaging in the pre-market day allows suppliers to showcase their capabilities, thereby enabling them to align their offerings with the Trust's specific requirements and enhance their visibility in the public procurement landscape.
