Summary of the contracting process

The UK Shared Business Services Ltd (UK SBS) is managing a procurement process titled "FM21195 - Provision of British Antarctic Survey Food" under the open procedure, aimed at providing dry, frozen, and bonded provisions for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) and its personnel. The procurement falls within the goods category, specifically food and related products, with a total estimated value of £3,750,000. This tender is currently active, with the submission deadline set for 15 October 2021. Once submitted, responses will be assessed in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, and any submissions must be completed through the Delta eSourcing portal.

This opportunity offers significant growth potential for suppliers capable of meeting the unique logistical challenges of providing supplies to operations in extreme environments like Antarctica. Businesses specialising in food supply, particularly those familiar with frozen and dry provisions suitable for harsh conditions, would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. Given the BAS's extensive operational requirements, potential suppliers should also be prepared for long-term commitments, including contract extensions that may last up to five years. Companies experienced in managing large-scale supply contracts under stringent regulatory frameworks would find this a fitting opportunity to expand their portfolio.
