Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is being conducted by ESPO (the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation) for a Framework Agreement titled "191_24 Electricity (Half Hourly Metered, Non-Half Hourly and Unmetered Supply)". This initiative falls within the electricity supply industry category and is aimed at providing wholesale electricity supplies for public sector organisations across England, Wales, and Scotland. The procurement is currently at the Award stage, having been signed on 19th July 2022, with a total contract value of £960 million. The contract period is set to run from 1st October 2024 to 30th September 2028.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the energy sector, particularly those supplying electricity and related services. Companies with an Electricity Supply Licence granted by OFGEM and expertise in wholesale electricity trading are well-suited to participate in this framework. Furthermore, organisations involved in the third sector that can provide ancillary services to public bodies may also find potential avenues for growth, especially through ESPO's commercial trading company, ESPO Trading Limited, which caters to such organisations.
