Notice Description

Surrey County Council are procuring a new contract for the provision of Habilitation Training Services for Children and Young People with Visual Impairment. The new contract is anticipated to start no earlier than 1 April 2022 and will be in place for three years with an option to extend for up to a further 24 months. The estimated budget for this service PS145,000 - PS160,000 per annum. Providers are invited to formally express their interest in this contract giving a full explanation of how they will meet the criteria in writing to the Council at the email address detailed in paragraph I.1 (winnie.turay@surreycc.gov.uk) by Monday 22nd November 2021 at 9:00 am. This PIN notice will be only used once and if there are no expressions of interest the contract will be directly awarded to Sight for Surrey.

Lot 1

This service is for children and young people living in Surrey with sight impairment and severe sight impairment. Services for children and young people with sight impairment and severe sight impairment, will include, but are not limited to: * Holding the register of children and students that are resident in Surrey with sight impairment and severe sight impairment (approximately 80 -120 CYP per annum)* * Training for 0-19 centred on personal mobility and navigation/orientation - to use their compensatory skills with the aim of maximising their independence; and * Training for 0-19 centred on the acquisition of independent living skills - which includes cooking and food preparation, personal care and management of clothing, personal organisation, purchasing goods and money management. * Preparing children with sight loss for adulthood. *where a child is a Surrey resident but goes to school outside of Surrey borders, the provider will be responsible for providing this service to them.); The commissioned provider will employ 3 (minimum) qualified habilitation specialists to: * Maintain and hold the register of Surrey children and students with sight impairment / severe sight impairment * Deliver two strands of the expanded core curriculum to a vulnerable cohort of children and students under the umbrella of habilitation, i.e. training centred on personal mobility and navigation/orientation; training centred on the acquisition of independent living skills. * The commissioned provider will have a successful, evidenced track-record of working with and supporting children and students with vision impairment and multisensory impairment and their families. In addition, this provider should not only fulfil the statutory requirements for children and young people with vision impairment but should also offer a holistic service, (this can include signposting events and activities). Additional information: Formal expression of interest for this contract must be submitted in writing no later than Monday 22nd November 2021 at 9:00am to winnie.turay@surreycc.gov.uk.
