Summary of the contracting process

NI Water and its subsidiaries were conducting a tender for the "C964 Private Wire Power Purchase Agreement" aimed at procuring renewable electricity for their extensive operations across Northern Ireland. The procurement process was classified under the goods category, specifically focusing on electricity, and was in the planning stage. Notably, this tender has been cancelled due to the prolonged time since its initiation with no contract awarded. The tender aimed to establish behind the meter Power Purchase Agreements at multiple Water Treatment Works and Pumping Stations in the region.

This procurement opportunity is particularly relevant for businesses in the energy sector, especially those specialised in renewable energy solutions and electricity distribution services. Companies capable of offering innovative proposals to supply renewable energy could benefit significantly as NI Water seeks to increase its renewable procurement target to around 5-10%. This process encourages collaboration with local firms that can manage on-site energy projects and align with NI Water's sustainability objectives.
