Summary of the contracting process

The NHS West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group is initiating a Request for Information (RFI) for the Physical Health Check Screen and Intervene Service specifically designed for individuals with Serious Mental Illness in West Sussex. This planned procurement, classified under Health services (CPV code 85100000), is anticipated to commence in 2022 with a contract duration of three years, with an option to extend for an additional two years. Interested parties must submit their feedback by 5 PM on 9th December 2021 to aid the Commissioner in determining the optimum commissioning route. The procurement process is currently in the Planning stage.

Companies that can provide non-medical support, health improvement programmes, or work closely with Primary Care Networks will be well-positioned to engage in future tender opportunities arising from this RFI. Engaging in this process not only allows businesses to contribute to essential health services in the community but also enables them to potentially secure a long-term contract aimed at improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Mental Health Services Physical Health Check Screen and Intervene Service NHS/SOEPS/21.831 RFI NHS West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group Request for Information (RFI) The Commissioner is seeking the views of Healthcare Providers in relation to the provision of a Physical Health Check Screen and Intervene Service for People with Serious Mental Illness in West Sussex. The Commissioner is considering a contract period of three (3) years with an option to extend for a further period of up to two (2) years (3+2) commencing in 2022. This is a process designed to help the Commissioner to form a view of the best way to commission the service and is not the beginning of a Tender exercise. A Tender advertisement may be issued at the appropriate time, if required, should the Commissioner consider that the optimum route to commission the service is through a procurement exercise. Some questions may seem more relevant and easier to respond to than others at the moment. Please try to respond to as many as you can, as your views are valuable whether or not you have previously come across all of the aspects covered. Individuals living with SMI are not consistently being offered appropriate or timely physical health assessments despite their higher risk of poor physical health. They are not being supported to use available health information and advice or to take up tests and interventions that reduce the risk of preventable health conditions. Within the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health, NHS England committed to leading work to ensure that people living with severe mental illness (SMI) have their physical health needs met by increasing early detection and expanding access to evidence-based physical care assessment and intervention. Aims and objectives of the service Aims: * Improved & sustainable health outcomes for people on SMI registers * Individual resilience development * Reduction in health outcomes inequalities Objectives: * A suitable, non-medical support to enable people classified as being within the SMI group to engage with and attend the delivery of the PHC. * To provide and/or support people classified as being within the SMI cohort to access Health Improvement programs/interventions relevant to morbidities identified as a result of the PHC * To support Primary Care Networks (PCN) staff and clinicians to facilitate the uptake and delivery of the SMI PHC Your feedback at this point will not have a bearing on any future Tender submissions you may wish to offer at a later date, should the Commissioner undertake a procurement for this service. You will not be disadvantaged if you choose not to respond to this RFI but it will be helpful to understand your views at this early stage, so you are encouraged to respond as fully as you can. Please complete your response and return via our eTendering Portal https://in-tendhost.co.uk/soepscommissioning/aspx/Home reference: Physical Health Check Screen and Intervene Service NHS/SOEPS/21.831/RFI by 5pm on 9th December 2021. Thank you for your participation - we appreciate your time and effort in completing this RFI. Additional information: Please note: NHS England and Improvement have announced that the Sussex Health and Care Partnership, which is made up of all health and care organisations across East Sussex, West Sussex, and Brighton and Hove, has successfully met the criteria to become an Integrated Care System (ICS). An ICS is a way of working across health and care organisations that allows them to work closer together, to take collective responsibility of the health and wellbeing of populations across large areas. It is not anticipated that the statutory responsibility or accountability of the individual health and care organisations working as an ICS will be affected, save for the expectation that CCG organisations will be abolished and functions transferred to the ICS. As a result of these intended healthcare reforms, the Contracting Authority(s) currently NHS East Sussex CCG/NHS West Sussex CCG/NHS Brighton and Hove CCG, may change during the life of the contract.
