Where possible gender specific services should be developed e.g. Women only Groups. A range of activities- recreational, educational and social for both clients and carers should be offered. Informal advocacy support and access to other services should be available. Access to training and further education should be encouraged and training in life skills courses offered. Counselling That all counselling services are managed by a qualified counsellor. That all allocations are made by a qualified counsellor. That any service delivering counselling is a member of the BACP, UKCP or similar. That all student counsellors are individual members of a professional body. That counselling services should have established links with local Universities and colleges. That all student/trainee counsellors have had suitable and appropriate training in counselling online or by phone.
