The Environmental Protection Act (1990) which requires the owner of any land where any contaminated substances are known to be, not permit those substances to be in, or on or under any other land to which they appear to have escaped. The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010: under which it is an offense to knowingly discharge poisonous, noxious or polluting matter or solid waste matter into inland freshwater. The successful management of the water treatment plant and waste repositories are an environmental requirement imposed by the Environment Agency. The Contract also protects businesses on Pride Park who all pay a service charge to fund the reclamation infrastructure on Pride Park. In addition to running the water treatment plant the contract also includes the management of monitoring wells around the two waste repositories on Pride Park containing a combined total of 95,000m3 of contaminated gas works waste. Service Provider already in use at Council for recent years.",
