Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process detailed involves Cheshire East Council as the contracting authority, seeking contracts for the provision of Educational Psychologist Services. The tender is classified under the health and social work services industry category, specifically aimed at addressing a national shortage of educational psychologists. This procurement method is described as limited, using an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The current procurement stage is complete, with key contracts awarded and signed on 27 October 2021. The total potential value of contracts over a maximum five-year period is estimated to reach £2.5 million, reflecting the urgent need for these specialist services in Cheshire.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses in the educational psychology sector, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can provide bespoke psychological assessment services tailored to the statutory requirements of the Council. Businesses equipped to perform psychological evaluations, consultations, and parent-school liaison would find this tender particularly suitable. With ongoing demand and a limited pool of qualified candidates, firms that can quickly mobilise expert resources may gain a competitive edge in fulfilling these important local government contracts, which aim to enhance educational outcomes for children in the region.
