Summary of the contracting process

The Financial Conduct Authority is currently engaged in a procurement process titled "CON-18-022 Financial Lives Survey Programme of Research and Reporting." This initiative, classified under the industry category of "Market and economic research; polling and statistics," is being conducted within the United Kingdom. The procurement is currently at the Award stage, following a tender process, with significant dates including the contract period from 25 March 2019 to 24 March 2023. The contract, valued at £2,199,684, involves a shift in the survey methodology due to the Covid pandemic, transitioning from in-home interviews to a telephone survey format.

This procurement presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in market research and survey methodologies, particularly those with experience in telephone interviewing and data collection. Given the necessity for adapting to new methodologies post-pandemic, businesses that have capabilities in conducting large-scale research and are adept at handling the complexities of diverse respondent engagement would be particularly well-suited to compete. The contract's focus on comprehensive economic surveys may also attract firms with a strong analytical background and experience in social research.

Notice Description

Lot Information

CON-18-022 Financial Lives Programme of Research and Reporting

The first two waves of the survey, conducted in 2016/7 and 2019/20, were undertaken using a combination of online and in-home interviewing. The aim of the in-home survey was to ensure those offline or in some way digitally excluded were represented in the survey. The Covid pandemic has necessitated a change in survey methodology, with large-scale in-home interviewing still unlikely. The in-home survey will be replaced with a telephone survey.
