HS2 Phase 2a Main Civils Works (Pre-procurement market engagement)
Notice Description
High Speed Two (HS2) Limited (HS2 Ltd) is responsible for developing and promoting the new high speed railway. HS2 will initially run between London and Birmingham (Phase One) but will subsequently be extended north of Birmingham (Phase Two). This Periodic Indicative Notice ('PIN') relates to the forthcoming procurement for the main civils works (MCW) across the HS2 Phase 2a route (West Midlands to Crewe) (P2a). This PIN is to alert suppliers that HS2 Ltd wishes to commence pre-procurement market engagement, including holding a pre-procurement market engagement briefing event to support the proposed procurement of P2a MCW. Lot 1
(Nature and quantity of works, supplies or services or indication of needs and requirements): P2a runs between the West Midlands and Crewe, with a line of route length of c. 58 kilometers (km), forming the first section of the western leg of HS2 Phase Two. P2a interfaces with Phase One (West Midlands) and with the existing West Coast Mainline, south of Crewe. The P2a route is largely rural, passing through farmland, but also includes residences/residential areas and towns. It passes through a number of local authority districts, including Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Cheshire. Total estimated P2a elements/quantities are: * Bored tunnel 2.5 km * Viaducts: 6.2 km * Embankments: 19 million cubic meters (m3) * Cuttings: 20 million m3 * Bridges: 61 number * 1 combined infrastructure maintenance depot/railhead Pre-procurement market engagement documents will be made available by HS2 Ltd to registered suppliers and will include supplemental information on specific elements of the emerging procurement and delivery strategy.
