Summary of the contracting process

The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is initiating a procurement process titled "UKRI-1441 NERC Vessels Maintenance Framework," aimed at securing maintenance services for their research vessels, including the RRS "James Cook," RRS "Discovery," and RRS "Sir David Attenborough." This tender falls under the industry category of repair and maintenance services for ships, with the main procurement category designated as services. The procurement process is currently in the tender stage, with the deadline for submitting tenders extended to 7th February 2022, following a recent amendment to the initial timeline.

This opportunity presents significant potential for businesses focused on ship maintenance and repair, especially for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) that can meet the selection criteria outlined by UKRI. Bidders should be capable of ensuring high maintenance standards and may also offer global support for any emergency repairs outside scheduled maintenance periods. Companies operating in maritime services, engineering, or logistics would be well-suited to compete in this procurement, given the comprehensive nature of the contract and the need for continuity in maintenance standards for UKRI's vessels.
