Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) is currently managing the Insurance-Based Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme Concession Contract B, which falls under the services category, specifically focusing on damage or loss insurance services. This award, granted to Tenancy Deposit Scheme Ltd, supports the requirement for landlords to protect tenants' deposits within England and Wales. The contract, originally signed on 1 October 2012, has been extended for an additional 36 months, now set to expire on 31 March 2026. The procurement process is initiated by a tender, reflecting the ongoing need for insurance-based tenancy deposit protection schemes.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in financial and insurance services, particularly those equipped to manage tenancy deposit schemes. Companies that can offer innovative solutions or enhancements in customer service, alternative dispute resolution, or competitive pricing strategies would be particularly well-suited to compete in this environment. Notice Title

Insurance-Based Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme Concession Contract B

Notice Description

Lot Information

Lot 1

The Housing Act 2004 requires a landlord to protect a tenant's deposit from misappropriation in a government approved tenancy deposit (TDP) scheme for a home rented on an assured shorthold tenancy that started after 6 April 2007. Insurance-based TDP schemes allow landlords or letting agents to hold the physical deposits and charge a fee that is used to buy insurance to protect the deposits. A tenant may make a claim to the scheme should his or her deposit not be returned at the end of the tenancy in accordance with statutory deadlines. All TDP schemes are required to provide alternative dispute resolution as an alternative to the courts in the event of a dispute between tenant and landlord at the end of the tenancy. This notice relates to one of three existing suppliers which each offer an insurance-based scheme. The schemes compete with one another for customers.
