Summary of the contracting process

The Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is initiating a Prior Information Notice (PIN) for the Operation and Maintenance of a Proposed Regional Wood Reprocessing Facility at Silent Valley, Ebbw Vale. This project falls under the waste management industry and aims to alert suppliers about forthcoming procurement opportunities. The procurement process is currently at the planning stage, with key dates including an Industry Day and a Supplier Questionnaire set for July 2022, and the Invitation to Tender (ITT) expected to be issued by August 2022, with the contract commencing in January 2023 and construction completion estimated for January 2024.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the waste management and recycling sectors, particularly those equipped to handle refuse recycling services. Firms that specialise in operational management of processing facilities, machinery maintenance, and environmental compliance will be well-suited to compete. Interested suppliers are encouraged to register through the e-procurement portal and participate in the market consultations during the Industry Day, helping to shape the project and potentially secure a long-term contract for the facility's operational management.
