Notice Description
Training detection dogs to screen Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) for target odours The purpose of this proposed contract is to work with a search dog Contractor to: * Ensure there are at least 8 dogs capable of detecting a range of 12 target materials around the exterior of vehicle types (including cars, large vans, coaches and HGVs) The Contractor will be required to provide a group of at least eight dogs and train them to detect up to 12 explosive and non-explosive materials, provided by the Authority. The Contractor should be able to source and utilise additional relevant materials in their training to allow the dogs to generalise across a range of similar samples of the required target materials. The dogs must be trained to detect all target odours in both a stand-based test set-up and when concealed in various positions on exterior and interior of vehicles. Screening the interior of the trailer is out of scope for this contract. The dogs must be trained to discriminate the target odours from non-target odours that are concealed in a similar manner.
