Summary of the contracting process

The Kirklees Council is seeking suppliers for the "Home Starter Fund - Carpet Provision," aimed at providing carpets to approximately 600 properties annually in the Huddersfield area. This initiative falls under the "goods" category, specifically for carpets, and has a total estimated annual value of £390,000. The procurement process is currently complete, having gone through a selective procurement method. The initial contract term is set for 12 months, with provisions for three extensions of 12 months each, not exceeding a total of 48 months. The contracts for four separate lots were awarded on 6 April 2022.

This tender represents an excellent opportunity for businesses in the flooring and construction materials sectors to grow, particularly those that can provide installation services for carpets on a significant scale. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have experience in similar projects and can demonstrate competitive pricing, as well as quality, are well-suited to compete in this market. The ability to manage logistics and supply effectively will be critical, especially given the focus on multiple properties and varied archetypes across the region.
