Summary of the contracting process

Lancashire County Council has completed a procurement process for the "Provision of Services for the Acceptance and Composting of Green Waste," classified under composting services. This initiative was organised in an open tender format across nine lots, aligning with eight districts within Lancashire and Blackpool Council. The procurement was undertaken in compliance with the prevailing legal framework, with significant criteria based on price (90%) and social value (10%). Key dates include the award date of 6th July 2022, and the framework agreements are designed for a maximum duration of four years, while the initial contract period is set for three years.

This opportunity is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the waste management and recycling sectors, as well as businesses that offer environmental services. Engaging in this tender not only allows organisations to partner with a regional authority but also positions them strategically within a growing sector aimed at sustainability and waste reduction. Bidders are encouraged to highlight their capacity for meeting social value criteria to enhance their competitive edge in this tender process.
