Summary of the contracting process

The Manchester City Council is currently managing a tender for "TC150 Deep cleansing and chewing gum removal on the city centre streets in Manchester," focusing on street-cleaning services. This procurement process, now at the planning stage, aims to enhance the cleanliness standards in busy areas such as China Town and Piccadilly Gardens. Key elements include a significant contract value of £600,000, an increase from the initial amount due to additional required work. The project is expected to commence from August 1, 2021, with an estimated completion shortly after Christmas 2021, utilising a steam cleansing and pressure water system.

This tender presents considerable opportunities for businesses specialised in cleaning and maintenance services, particularly those with capabilities in deep cleansing and pressure washing. Companies that can adeptly manage both programmed and reactive cleaning schedules will be particularly well-suited to compete. The focus on maintaining high cleanliness standards in high-footfall urban areas also suggests a strong interest in innovative solutions that support local businesses and communities, making this an attractive contract for service providers aiming for growth in the public sector.
