Summary of the contracting process

Newcastle University has recently completed a tender process titled "(NU/1589-61) Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Website Build." This procurement falls under the IT services sector, specifically aimed at the consultancy, software development, Internet, and support categories, with a total contract value of £4,750. The contract was signed on 20 June 2022, and the procurement method used was a restricted procedure. The tender process involved a standstill period to allow unsuccessful bidders the opportunity to challenge the award decision.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in website development and IT services, particularly those with experience in creating high-quality academic or educational websites. SMEs focused on digital solutions and those capable of utilising in-house material, such as information architecture and wireframes, would be well-suited to compete. Given the competitive nature of the tender, businesses that can demonstrate a strong portfolio and the ability to meet project timelines will likely find this an attractive opportunity for growth.

Notice Title

(NU/1589-61) Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Website Build

Notice Description

We've identified the need to re-develop the current Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty website (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/hss/). The current site has become out of date and no longer reflects the vision, structure, strengths and breadth of activity taking place across the Faculty. The result is a site which no longer serves its purpose and meets the requirements of the Faculty Communications Strategy, which ultimately responds to the expectations set out in the Faculty's strategic priorities. As all the initial stages of the web development are being done in-house, the supplier is required to use the provided IA, wireframes and content developed in-house in order to build the new site in the latest version of our CMS.
