Summary of the contracting process

The Derby City Council is seeking ecological advice through a tender titled "Ecological Advice" within the environmental services industry. This procurement process has reached the award stage, with the contract actively awarded to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Limited. The services will impact Local Wildlife Sites and require consultation in relation to planning applications and Local Plan allocations. The contract, initiated on 5th July 2022, is set for an initial term of 18 months and may be extended for up to 42 additional months, with a total estimated value of £136,500.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in ecological consultancy and environmental services, particularly those focused on biodiversity and planning assistance. Companies that possess expertise in assessing biodiversity metrics and have the ability to navigate environmental legislation will be well-suited to engage with the council's requirements. Given the specific intellectual property pertaining to the Derbyshire Biological Records Centre, the competition is limited, creating a unique niche for businesses with relevant qualifications in this public procurement process.
