Market Engagement Notice - Development of GWR's Future Fleet and Depot Proposal
Notice Description
This notice is published by the Great Western Railway (GWR). This notice is published to advertise a forthcoming market engagement exercise. This exercise relates to the development of GWR's Future Fleet and Depot Proposal to be submitted to the Department for Transport (DfT). It is the intention that should the proposal be accepted GWR will initiate a rolling stock and supporting infrastructure procurement. The aim of the proposal is to provide an affordable plan for decarbonation of GWR's fleet whilst improving and aligning the service to future customer needs. This market engagement exercise is open to all entities capable of supplying rolling stock and infrastructure to support a move away from diesel traction, such as equipment with the capability of supporting automated rapid charging of batteries and innovative approaches to energy supply. Following receipt of interest in engaging in the exercise entities will be invited to join discussions on GWR's future fleet and depot concept. GWR will describe the development of the concept and how it supports our aims. The purpose of this exercise is to listen to feedback and the market's expertise to aid our development of options for evaluation, ahead of a future procurement. GWR may decline to engage with entities who are unable to demonstrate capability to supply the required products and services in order to optimise the value and efficiency of the exercise.
