Dementia is one of the top five causes of all deaths and is the top cause of death in women. Dementia is the most feared disease for the over 55's and the risk of developing dementia doubles approximately every 5 years after the age of 65. Dementia accounts for 2/3 of all occupied hospital and residential beds and costs the economy PS26b per year.
