Summary of the contracting process

The Peabody Group is planning a procurement titled "Thamesmead Social Gardening," which falls under the category of community, social and personal services. The initiative aims to develop a social gardening programme within Thamesmead, specifically at the Hawksmoor Growing Club and Edible/Atriums Gardens. The total value of the project is £40,000, and it is currently in the planning stage. Interested parties should note that a future notice date is set for 15 August 2022, indicating when the tender process will proceed further.

This procurement presents an excellent opportunity for organisations focused on community engagement, gardening, and environmental stewardship. Businesses that specialise in social services and community projects, particularly those with experience in working collaboratively with local residents, would be well-suited to compete. Providers who can combine hands-on gardening expertise with strategic community management are especially encouraged to apply, as the goal is to create spaces managed by residents, fostering skill-sharing and active participation within the community.

Notice Title

Thamesmead Social Gardening

Notice Description

Peabody are looking for an organisation to review, create, promote and deliver a social gardening programme in Thamesmead within the two key spaces: Hawksmoor Growing Club & Edible/Atriums Gardens.

Lot Information

Lot 1

We are looking for a passionate collective or organisation to lead the management and resident engagement of two key gardening spaces in Thamesmead. We want a hands on approach to the gardens alongside a strategic review of the spaces, relationships with local residents and the activity that takes place there, where local residents are actively engaged with and encouraged to see these spaces as their spaces. The winning provider will work collaboratively with existing residents and resident groups helping to share necessary skills and knowledge but will also be motivated to find new and interested people to be involved. The gardens should be places where local residents are actively engaged with and encouraged to see these spaces as their own spaces. The long-term ambition is that these spaces are managed by residents, who have been provided with the relevant training and means to do this well. This is an appointment that in time will be more about community engagement and organising than simply hands on gardening.
