Ship handling tugs for use on the Manchester Ship Canal have the following broad specification. * Conventional twin-screw ship handling tug * Capable of towing over the stern as a conventional tug * Capable of towing over the bow as a braking tug (made fast to the assisted vessel's stern) * Beam overall not to exceed 8.15m * Draught not to exceed 3.6m * Bollard pull astern 18-20 tonnes * Bollard pull ahead at least 25 tonnes * Free running speed at least 10.5 knots * Accommodation for a crew of three (in separate cabins), including galley, messroom and wash-place * Built to Class rules and classed with a recognised Classification Society * Coded under the Workboat code for minimum Category 3, 20 miles from safe haven This notice is for market research purposes only.
