This advert is intended to notify potential suppliers of the upcoming tender for Ashchurch Bridge Over Rail. The site is found North of Ashchurch and Northway, Tewkesbury (approx.postcode GL20 8RP). The bridge is in the adopted Joint Core Strategy and is part of the approved transport strategy. Its purpose is to facilitate the future closure of the level crossing on Aston Fields Lane by providing a new bridge to link the B4079 and Hardwick Bank Road. The bridge is an essential infrastructure component, so it is Tewkesbury Borough Council's aim that by leading on the project, it will get the best possible outcome for local residents, with a focus on sustainable and comprehensive development and facilitating opportunities for greater active travel through safe walking/cycling routes. This bridge is also an important element in the first phase of the Garden Town, enabling a new east-west access road, cycle path and walkway in the northern Ashchurch area. It will provide a sustainable new transport route to new developments, taking the 'infrastructure first' approach within garden town principles. This contract is looking for a Principal Contractor to deliver the bridge structure and earthworks to the approach embankments. Construction Phase key Deliverables to be included in tender pack are as follows:Provide suitable traffic management during the construction works including the closure of Aston Field Lane, and diversion for the public footway.Construct Temporary haul roads to provide construction access to the bridge from Hardwick Bank Road and Aston Fields Lane, including construction of a temporary junction at Hardwick Bank Road. Remove haul roads and remediate on completion of worksConstruct Bridge over the Bristol to Birmingham railway line, requiring appropriate liaison with railway authorities and out of hours railway possessions to install precast bridge beams, parapets etc. Install piled foundations and construct insitu bridge abutments and reinforced earth supported wing wallsImport cohesive and granular materials and spread, level and compact to form Bridge approach embankments. (Embankment lengths of 200m on the east and west sides with circa 75,000m3 of material to be imported)Install filter drains, carrier drains and attenuation ponds to drain embankment structuresRailway track monitoring throughout construction phaseA summary of the outline programme for the scheme is shown below:Tender period: Fri 17th Feb 2023 to Thurs 23rd March 2023 at 1:00pm Award: 25th April 2023Anticipated Works Start Date: 30th May 2023Completion: 15th April 2024Overall Duration: 50 weeks approx.Indicative Value: PS7MThe proposed procurement route will be a single stage (Open Procedure) using the NEC4 ECC form of Contract, Option A; Lump sum with Activity Schedule.Full details will be available in the tender pack that we intend to advertise on Friday 17th February 2023.
