Notice Description
Multiply is the Government's new programme with the aim to increase numeracy skills for adults aged 19 and over. The programme is delivered as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is managed by the Department for Education (DfE). Multiply in Essex will provide funding to develop new bespoke courses that support key aspects of Multiply delivery that will be rolled out through local skills training providers and into the community, involving local schools, businesses and voluntary and community organisations in the delivery of new pathways into learning. These programmes will lead to attainment of a qualification, but non-qualification provision will also be offered where this is more appropriate to help address the needs of residents of Essex, and in alignment with the national aims for Multiply. The purpose of this tender is to create a supply chain of organisations to deliver adult numeracy education/training programme across the whole of Essex. ECC is looking to award funding to organisations that can demonstrate the most effective way in which the money will be used and has the greatest impact on learners.

More specifically, bidders are expected to: a) work with businesses to develop and deliver training courses that are bespoke to the sector the business operates in, or the business itself. b) develop courses aimed at people who cannot apply for certain jobs because of lack of numeracy skills and / or to encourage people to upskill in numeracy in order to access a certain job/ career. c) Develop additional relevant maths modules embedded into other vocational courses. Eligible target learners are adults 19+ who have not previously attained a GCSE Grade 4/C or higher maths qualification. They can either be working towards a maths GCSE or Functional Skills Qualification or need specific numeracy skills for their work or progression. Expected duration of training courses is between 6 to 10 guided learning hours.
