Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, through the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation, has awarded a contract to Ultra Nuclear Ltd for "In-Service Support for SIRS, TREMS, and DIREMS" in the industry category of repair and maintenance services of military electronic systems. The contract is valued at £9,000,000 and has been signed on 6th September 2023. The procurement method used was limited and negotiated without publication of a contract notice, due to technical reasons. The contract covers the provision of In-Service Support, including a technical upgrade programme for naval radiation monitoring systems, with optional additional years available.

This contracting opportunity with the Ministry of Defence offers business growth potential, particularly for companies specialising in repair and maintenance services of military electronic systems. Businesses with expertise in supplying and supporting complex defence equipment may find this contract well-suited for competition. The unique technical requirements of this tender necessitated the award without prior publication, citing Ultra Nuclear Ltd as the sole supplier capable of meeting the specialised operational needs and safety regulations to maintain fleet operations effectively.
