Notice Information
Notice Title
TfL Waste Heat Opportunities
Notice Description
The objective of TfL's Waste Heat programme is to help London reach the 2050 zero-carbon target, as set out by the London Environment Strategy via the utilisation of secondary heat sources. This waste heat can be used in conjunction with heat pumps to produce very low or zero carbon heat and cooling to businesses and/or residents, and this makes it an important tool in achieving decarbonisation targets. TfL is conducting this early market engagement exercise for Waste Heat Opportunities to gain an understanding of market interest at this time. TfL are looking for parties that may be interested in becoming an off-taker to identify themselves and express their interest. A Waste Heat Prospectus document, containing a Market Sounding Questionnaire, is currently available on TfL's e-tendering portal, to which TfL would greatly welcome responses to by the 11th December 2023. If you would like to gain access to the documents to express your interest and submit a response to the questionnaire, please contact us at WasteHeat@tfl.gov.uk. If you have already done business with TfL since our switch to our new sourcing system, SAP Ariba, you will be added to the event for full access to the documents once you have emailed us. If you have not worked with us since the switch, please self-register at the below link and contact us once you have submitted the form. https://s1-eu.ariba.com/Sourcing/Main/ad/selfRegistration?realm=TfL
Lot Information
Lot 1
TfL previously conducted a round of market engagement in May 2020, with a view to making the market aware of the opportunities on TfL's network, with a specific focus on ventillation shafts. TfL is making this further approach to the market in order to standardise the level of information that is publicly available, and to provide all relevant resources in one place. This revised set of information includes not only that held on the original vent shaft sites, but also pumped water sites that exist across the network. The objective of TfL's Waste Heat Opportunities is to help London reach the 2050 zero-carbon target, as set out by the London Environment Strategy via the utilisation of secondary heat sources. This waste heat can be used in conjunction with heat pumps to produce very low or zero carbon heat and cooling to businesses and/or residents, and this makes it an important tool in achieving decarbonisation targets. In addition to the above, TfL are looking for parties that may be interested in becoming an off-taker at any of the sites to identify themselves and express their interest via TfL's e-tendering platform, SAP Ariba. TfL does not currently have a budget to develop and deliver these waste heat schemes. Therefore, projects will need to be, at worst, revenue neutral for TfL and off-takers will need to cover their own capital and operational costs. However, TfL may be able to support interested parties in identifying potential funding sources to develop and deliver projects. Please note, you may have recently received notification of this market engagement via email. If so, and if you have already submitted a response, please forward it on to WasteHeat@tfl.gov.uk. We apologise for any inconvenience/duplication of effort.
