Summary of the contracting process

The Norfolk County Council, a regional authority in the United Kingdom, is planning a procurement process for the provision of Digital Autopsy Services in Norfolk. The project aims to engage with the market before formally tendering for the contract. The services fall under the medical specialist category, specifically for CT scanning services. The initiative is currently in the planning stage, with a future notice date set for January 23, 2024.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses offering medical specialist services, particularly those experienced in medical imaging services, to compete for the contract with Norfolk County Council. Businesses interested in providing digital autopsy services in the Norfolk area should take note of the planned procurement process and engage with the Council to express their interest. The anticipated one-to-one meetings with interested bidders are scheduled to take place over Teams starting from the fortnight beginning February 5, 2024.

The website address is https://in-tendhost.co.uk/norfolkcc), and use the correspondence facility. We expect the 1 to 1 meetings to take place during the fortnight beginning 5th February 2024 over Teams. If you are interested, please send the names and email addresses of all who wish to attend to Theresa.king@norfolk.gov.uk and an invitation will be issued. Norfolk County Council are the relevant authority for the Norfolk Coroners Service. We wish to enter into a contract to provide digital autopsy (CT scanning) services for the Coroner for the county of Norfolk. Digital Autopsy/CT Scanning is used as first line intervention as an alternative to traditional post-mortem examinations within Norfolk. Patients are scanned via a CT Scanner and images from the scan are then used by specially trained radiologists and coroners' pathologists to assist in ascertaining a cause of death. It is anticipated that a cause of death can be ascertained in approximately 75% of cases where patients have been scanned. This avoids the need to use the more traditional invasive approach to post mortem in these cases.
