They will also provide information sessions for the multidisciplinary team to ensure full understanding of the advocacy service.<br/>The advocate will work in partnership with other advocacy providers who may be involved in supporting the service user. The advocate must be able to act independently of any person who is professionally concerned with a patient's medical treatment.

* Increase confidence and assertiveness of service users
* Help connect service users to their local, cultural and faith-based communities
* Support service users in putting forward suggestions for service development, become directly involved in the strategic development of the service and raise complaints and queries
* Increase equity by breaking down barriers to this
* Service users trained as peer advocates
