Summary of the contracting process

NHS England, in collaboration with the Dorset Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner and Dorset Police Force, has announced the award of a contract for recommissioning the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) services in Dorset. The contract, worth £6,264,561 over seven years, will commence on 6th January 2025. This tender falls under the services category for health services and follows the Provider Selection Regime (PSR). The contracting process was competitive and involved a thorough evaluation based on quality, innovation, value, and social criteria, with the award being finalised on 30th August 2024. The contract was procured through an open procedure and managed by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit on behalf of the commissioners.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities for providers of health and forensic services. Companies specialising in medical and forensic examinations, crisis support, and sexual assault response services are well-suited to compete. With a careful emphasis on meeting national standards and local population needs, the contract includes service delivery for both acute and non-recent cases, except for children under 12 in non-recent cases. Despite excluding certain services like Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) and therapeutic provisions, the new provider will coordinate closely with these services, ensuring holistic care. The extensive contract duration and substantial value make this a notable opportunity for businesses aiming to expand their footprint in the healthcare sector.
