Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom has awarded a contract for the supply of Soldier Systems to SAAB AB. The contract, titled "Deployable Tactical Engagement Simulation (D-TES) [TSSP/143 ILT-D]", falls under the procurement category of services. SAAB AB, as the Original Equipment Manufacturer and Design Authority for ILT-D, has been granted the contract to deliver 1000 ILT-D Soldier Systems. The contract, valued at £40,000,000, was signed on 30th April 2024. The procurement method used was negotiated without publication of a contract notice due to technical reasons.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses involved in specialist training services to engage in the supply of precision laser-based tactical engagement systems for military training. SAAB AB's expertise as the OEM and DA for Soldier Systems positions them as the sole provider due to the specific technical requirements of the contract. Companies with capabilities in military equipment manufacturing, maintenance, and upgrade services would be well-suited to compete for future similar contracts in the defence sector.
