BAS urgently required to move a patient off Bird Island Research Station and back to the hospital in the Falklands to assess a medical condition. The Pharos SG was in the nearby vicinity at South Georgia and was utilised. Without the use of this vessel, the safety of a BAS patient could have been compromised.
