Summary of the contracting process

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority has successfully completed its selective procurement process titled "GMCA 1317 Gas Supply Contract," aimed at supplying gas to the GMFRS estate and select GM Waste Sites. This procurement falls under the services category within the public utilities industry and is governed by the framework and constitution of PCR15 regulations. The procurement followed a restricted procedure using the YPO framework for gas supply, with key dates including the contract being awarded and signed as active since 7 February 2025. This procurement process was conducted primarily within the UK region, and while it initially involved one lot, it was later cancelled in pursuit of direct award criteria focused entirely on pricing.

This tender creates growth opportunities for large businesses specialising in energy supply and utility management services, particularly those adept within public sector frameworks. Corona Energy Limited was awarded the contract, showcasing opportunities for similar large-scale suppliers to compete in future tenders under similar frameworks or restricted procedures. Organisations with robust service and pricing strategies tailored to public sector utility needs will likely find favourable prospects in competing for such selective procurement contracts. Businesses can leverage frameworks, like those offered by YPO, to streamline their participation process and explore direct award strategies aligning with PCR15 regulations.
