Most Waste Collection Authorities in England and Wales (apart from a small number of exemptions) will be revising both their collection and processing methodologies. The Council's current contract for the processing of green and mixed green and food waste by In Vessel Composting (IVC) ends on the 31st of December 2024. Rather than a short-term interim procurement based on current specifications to suffice until April 2026, the Council propose a contract term extension as described in section VII.2.1), allowing time to investigate new technologies available and carry out a cost benefit analysis of such. To prepare and enable a new procurement based on this will be far more attractive to the market. The modification is pursuant to PCR 72, in particular Regulation 72(1)(b)(ii)."
