Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Property Decorating and Furnishing Packages" contract was conducted by Cumberland Council, a regional authority located in Carlisle, Cumbria. This tender was classified under the industry category of Business Services, including law, marketing, consulting, recruitment, printing, and security, with a focus specifically on services. The process involved an open procedure, with the award stage concluding on 17th July 2024. The contract, valued at £345,000 GBP, was awarded to Pivot Furniture Ltd, based in Kendal, Cumbria. The project primarily involves preparing properties to assist in resettling refugee families as part of various UK Government schemes.

There are significant opportunities for business growth, especially for companies specialising in property furnishing and decoration services. The project demands a comprehensive furnishing package, including white goods, carpets, and curtains/blinds, which presents a lucrative opportunity for businesses in these domains. The open procedure method ensures that Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) have a fair chance to compete, as evidenced by Pivot Furniture Ltd, an SME securing the contract. Suppliers in related sectors looking for growth opportunities should consider future tenders released by Cumberland Council, especially those aimed at supporting community and social initiatives.
