Notice Description

Lot Information

Lot 1

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of all Health Boards in Wales who are seeking to appoint supplier/s to provide Stoma Services across Wales. Health Boards across NHS Wales provide a Colorectal and Stoma Service to support patients who require a stoma (artificial opening in the abdomen allowing waste to exit the body). This is surgically performed most commonly for patients with Cancer, Colitis, Crohns Disease or inflammatory bowel disease. The current service consists of a multidisciplinary team with the overall aim of providing an integrated care pathway for patients spanning Primary Care and Secondary Care. Following surgery and an assessment by Clinical Nurse Specialist: Stoma / Colorectal, the patient is discharged into primary care with an initial supply of products and advice on obtaining further supplies. The CNS provides ongoing patient care via clinics. This competitive dialogue process is exploring a Value Based Health Care approach to this condition area, which will provide the opportunity to not only consider costs but also the outcomes associated across the whole cycle of care, which will ultimately result in the best outcomes for all patients requiring stoma care provision across NHS Wales. The recommended bidder may be required (dependant on awarded option) to support the provision of the Stoma Care Service as follows: - Income to resource clinical team and activities - appropriate training and education - IT equipment and software to manage patient information on a potential All Wales basis - Consumables including free sample products for use within hospitals and free products for patient discharges - Cutting for prescriptions Please note that this list is not inclusive and could be subject to change whilst progressing through the competitive dialogue stages. In addition, it should also be noted that whilst NHS Wales is looking for a whole system approach, it reserves the right to split the requirement (for instance, regionally but not limited to this example) depending on the needs of the service and the dialogue that occurs within this Procurement.
