Summary of the contracting process

Bolton Council has awarded a contract for Pharmacy Locally Enhanced Services, under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The contract will begin on 1st September 2024 and run until 31st August 2029, with a total value of £79,800. This procurement focuses on community health services in the region of UKD36, and aims to provide a single point of contact for all locally enhanced service provisions. The procurement method was a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, due to the specialised nature of the services required. Key dates include the initial contract award date of 1st September 2024, with the standstill period ending on 16th July 2024.

This tender creates significant opportunities for specialised healthcare providers, particularly those with expertise in managing comprehensive pharmacy services. Businesses well-suited to compete would be those with a strong track record in community health services, particularly in areas such as Sexual Health, Smoking Cessation, and Pre-Printed MAR's. The awarded provider, CPGM Healthcare Limited, has an established relationship with local pharmacies and possesses the necessary knowledge and expertise. Such contracts can provide growth opportunities through professional guidance, training, and the creation of sustainable service models, enhancing both service quality and economic value for providers.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The provider will be best placed to oversee and manage all of the regular locally enhanced services activity in Bolton to provide professional guidance and training to pharmacy staff therefore ensuring best quality service provision for our people. The provider will require access to all pharmoutcomes activity and capability and be able to assess delivery and outputs collectively across GM, Bolton and on an individual pharmacy basis.
